Bloglovin’

I know, I know. I’m so inconsistent. But what had happened was… See, when I think about blogging about me I end up on other people’s blogs and admire what they’re talking about. Here’s what I’ve been reading: http://www.allthingsfab101.com/ This girl is a true fashionista. I started following her on YouTube where she makes vids about, of course, fashion. She shops at place I like and shows how she puts them together. Aldo, H&M, the fancy shops for regular girls. Most importantly, she like Nicki Minaj and she’s a Virgo, just like me! http://dippedingood.blogspot.com/ J. Jones aka Lola is actually my classmate from elementary school. Even when we had to wear our dull navy blue uniform I could see her style trying to escape. So naturally she talks about fashion but you can also read into her deeper thoughts though her poetry or rap or spoken word. I’m not sure what she classifies it as. You can also catch the cutest pictures of her son, Chase. http://thatgoodgoodblog.blogspot.com/ Hot. Sexy. Men. I’m not talking about the regular image of a sexy man, muscles, baby oil, you know. I’m talking about well dressed, tailored, and fashionable. Imagine Tyson dressed like a scholar. Getting the picture? Oh yeah, she also puts of music videos of songs that I’ve loved that really don’t get any play on television. http://dmb-insidemyhead.blogspot.com/ And this is not just because I’m always featured on here. Ok, maybe that has a little to do with it. But I genuinely like this girl. DMB is my travel buddy, my ride or die, and I’m headed to brunch with her today. As a matter of fact, I should be getting ready. Anyway, check her out as she talks about her natural hair journey. As I do love these blogs I’ve mention make your you don’t stray away! Love Ya Cee

Dr. Miracle's Model

We all need change. In my case, I’m addicted to it. I am always looking for something new but not necessarily doing it all the time. Usually fear kicks in before I can make a decision. Now a couple of posts ago you may have noticed that I was looking at some hair styles that may be a little extreme from my standard ‘fro. At the moment I have a weave installed. Wrong move in a sense because I’ve been loosing sleep over it since it’s so tight but also a bad move because it’s tearing my edges to pieces. The damage is taking such a toll that when this weave come out my hair is going to look like a Dr. Miracle's commercial. So now I’m seriously contemplating it. I want to join the Chrisette Michele team.

This girl I’m subscribed to on YouTube, CHEVerlyHIllz, has done everything to her hair. It’s a similar story to mine of frying, dying, blowing drying, and anything else known to damage your hair. Finally she went natural with a big chop a little over a year but unfortunately experienced some heat damage. Now she’s decided to BC once again and realizes she like its way better.

I see so any with the 360° Caesar and I have yet to see someone that can’t pull it off. Amber Rose, Chrisette Michele…They did it.Should I?

What to do, What to do?

I’ve been natural for a little over a year now. I believe it started in May 2009. Since then, I’ve been weavin’ and wiggin’ it. I started out with a birthday weave in August.

My bangs were much longer, but I believe that once my hair started to grow, it lifted my bangs. Milky Way Saga Gold #4, 12” & 14”

This was followed by some cornrows for an October cruise. Unfortunately, my edges were badly damaged from the pulling. I guess I should’ve known it wasn’t such a good idea when I was getting it done because I couldn’t even blink.

Notice how far apart my center part is.
NEVER AGAIN!!!

When this came out, THANK GOD, I wasn’t sure what I could do. I mean I had this short hair on my head that couldn’t even lay down flat due to all the new growth. I couldn’t dare wear it out and was too cheap to pay to get it done. So after some training from YouTube, I created my very own weave cap (wig)!

Yes, very amateur, but successful. It last for a couple of weeks before it started to fall apart.

I made about 3 of these weave caps and wore each for about 1 month. When February rolled around I was soooo done with wigs. I mean really, I only knew 2 styles. Think about that. 3 months and 2 styles equals boring. So to turn up the heat, I ……… drum roll please……… I got another weave! Big moves y’all.

I guess I was afraid of change or maybe it was the forest that was growing on my head. So I panicked and the lame weave thing as usual. I actually like this. But the bottom track got nappy as any weave wearers out there knows.

Finally, between styles, I was convinced to wear MY hair. And go figure, it was a little Armenian lady who convinced me. So months later, I’m still wearing my hair but I’m starting to feel that itch. For the past 4 months I’ve been wearing the same two strand twists out. I love the look of my curly 'fro when let out but for 4 months straight...getting boring.

I don't want to do anything I'll regret, but I have to do something different.
What to do now?
Color, weave, braids, Big Chop, perm.

Junkyard Junkie

I used to be embarrassed when my father dug into the pile of junk that was placed in front of someone’s house. I would look around to see whose watching as I watched him dust off an old table or chair and explain what he could do to revive the item back to life for our home. Anyway, let’s title him Junkyard Junkie Sr.
I’ve become Junkyard Junkie Jr. I think all naturals are. Maybe my dad wasn’t the best example but when we naturals hear about a product we immediately jump up and buy it even though we have other unfinished recommendations sitting on our shelves or at the bottom of our mother’s closets (inny @ Don). Even if it isn’t a suggestion we add it to our collection. This all leads me to the question of what products really work.
Personally, I am a natural 4b. My set of products includes things advised by naturals from all ranges. Some of them are not even my ethnicity. Some have been doing this natural hair thing for ages. Some have had success with just water while others have soul glo juice dripping from the ends (another inny @ Don).
Does all that matter? Do these “advisors” really have the knowledge we suppose they do? I mean, if providers like YouTube weren’t existent, would we have all of these products (I’m not knocking YouTube. Because of it, I became natural and confident)? Regardless, I just want us to be more conscious of the money we spend, the time we waste, and the energy we use when buying and testing these products. Still stick by your advisors. I’ve had many positive experiences, but don’t simply buy into peoples experiences irrationally.
Here are some products I have heard about and use. Remember, I am an Black, female with a 4b texture and have only been natural for a little over a year. Use at your own risk!

These products are what I use to clean my hair (from left to right):

After it's washed and still wet, I apply:

Throughout the week, I will add:
